MOA members gather at Daytona to celebrate the R 90 S

In March 2026, over 200 MOA members and other interested folks gathered at Daytona International Speedway to celebrate the riders, mechanics and fans who made the inaugural AMA Superbike season a huge success for BMW and the R 90 S. It was an impressive collection of effort led by Robert McIsaac and Steve McLaughlin and coordinating BMW AG, BMW NA, BMW MOA, and several other organizations.

You may not have any idea what it takes to start a race bike’s engine—I certainly didn’t—or the howling noise it makes once it’s running. It’s even more impactful in person because you not only hear the sound, you can feel it reverberating off every vertical surface for a hundred yards in any direction.

Following the three R 90 S race bikes onto the track for a parade lap were over 100 MOA members and their friends. Organizers put BMW S bikes at the front of the parade, but all manner of BMWs as well as Harleys and Indians joined the iconic bikes on the track.
