That\u2019s it. I didn\u2019t even take the long way or involve a fun detour despite the temps being in the low 50s and decidedly unbreezy. A crusty dude decked out in Harley apparel said as I walked by him, \u201cHow old is she?\u201d His eyes lit up when I told him 1976. We chatted about bikes until his wife emerged from the store with a cartload of groceries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The check-out clerk clocked my jacket\u2014I left my other gear on the bike\u2014and seemed puzzled that anybody on a motorcycle would be on a grocery run. It\u2019s perfectly routine to me no matter the bike. I got an extra paper bag to cushion the eggs and everything got home safely.
